FAQs

Do you take insurance?

We are currently private pay only and do not take insurance. However, we provide a form called a ‘Superbill’ which you can submit to your insurance company for possible reimbursement. Depending on your provider and Out of Network benefits you may be eligible for partial or full reimbursement. We recommend reaching out to your insurance provider to determine benefits.

What does a feeding therapist do?

Skilled feeding therapists examine the underlying cause of the feeding problem (e.g., sensory, motor, behavioral, medical etc,) and determine a comprehensive treatment plan based on those findings. The therapist will demonstrate evidence-based therapy approaches during sessions and provide parent/caregiver training to improve the child’s feeding. Family members are expected to be active participants in feeding therapy in order to promote progress.

What exactly is ‘feeding therapy’?

Skilled feeding therapy is a hands-on, individualized and comprehensive treatment of feeding difficulties in order to achieve the family’s goals (e.g., smoother mealtimes, decreased refusal behaviors, increased diet repertoire, improved chewing etc.). Skilled feeding intervention can result in positive long-term outcomes for your child’s relationship with food, their growth and reduce family stress related to feeding difficulties.

How long does feeding therapy take before we’ll see results?

Each child is different and it often depends on the severity of issue and the underlying reason for it. Progress is faster when the family is actively involved in the process and implements the therapist’s recommendations consistently. Many cases require collaboration with other disciplines such as pediatricians, dietitians, GI professionals, behavioral analysts or occupational therapists to address the issue from a holistic approach.
